Academics

At South Texas ISD Medical Professions, students develop medical and clinical skills in area hospitals and doctor's offices. Many students earn certifications as clinical medical assistants, emergency medical technicians, patient care technicians, pharmacy technicians, phlebotomy technicians, medical lab assistants, certified ophthalmic assistants, and as registered dental assistants.

Medical Professions offers the Foundation Diploma with endorsements in: STEM (science, technology, engineering and math); Public Service; Arts and Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies. 

Four-Year Course Sequence: 2019-2020 

Notes: 

Students must take core classes each year in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Advanced Placement classes are available in Art, Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, English Language, English Literature, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Economics, U.S. Government, U.S. History, World History and Psychology. Dual Enrollment in English and U.S. History. 

*Psychology AP may be taken for advanced scheduling. 

Medical Academy offers the Foundation Diploma with endorsements in: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math); Public Service; Arts and Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies.
