The STISD Board of Directors passed a resolution during the Feb. 28 meeting to more formally thank philanthropist MacKenzie Scott for her generous donation of $8 million to the district.

We thank you again for your patience today as we worked with law enforcement to address a situation we had at our Preparatory Academy campus and our Edinburg complex. We know there are rumors circulating on campus and outside of STISD regarding what happened, and we want to make sure our community is informed on the facts regarding the incident.
There was a suspicious incident at our Preparatory Academy campus just before 10 o’ clock a.m. today. Out of an abundance of caution, we immediately placed the school on lockdown and worked with our local law enforcement to ensure all students and staff were safe and secure. The lockdown has been lifted, and we are releasing students whose parents wish to pick them up early.
Owen’s current stage is South Texas ISD World Scholars.
