STISD will serve free meals for all students during the 2024-2025 School Year

For the first time in district history, all STISD students will eat free during the 2024-2025 School Year. The district is approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for the year, which will allow all STISD students to eat both breakfast and lunch at no cost. 

Students will be served breakfast in their first-period classrooms from 8:00-8:20 a.m. each day starting on the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 19. 

Parents/guardians will still need to complete an Income Survey as part of their electronic registration packet in Skyward; however, all STISD students will qualify for free meals, regardless of family income. 

STISD is comprised of seven schools: South Texas ISD Health Professions (Health Professions) in Mercedes, South Texas ISD Medical Professions (Medical Professions) in Olmito, South Texas ISD Preparatory Academy (Preparatory Academy) in Edinburg, South Texas ISD Rising Scholars Academy (Rising Scholars) in San Benito, South Texas ISD Science Academy (Science Academy) in Mercedes, South Texas ISD World Scholars (World Scholars) in Edinburg, and South Texas ISD Virtual Academy, through which students learn 100 percent from home.
